New York - August 2015 - Tailwind Capital, a leading middle market private equity firm investing in growth-oriented companies in healthcare, business and industrial services, has closed the previously announced sale of Re Transportation, Inc. ("ReTrans"), a non-asset based provider of third-party logistics services. The buyer was Kuehne + Nagel Investment Inc., the U.S. affiliate of Kuehne + Nagel International AG (SIX:KNIN), a Swiss integrated logistics services business. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Memphis, Tennessee, ReTrans employs a dual operating model that offers outsourced contract-based logistics management driven by dedicated account teams and integrated IT systems, as well as transaction-based freight shipping across a network of field agent offices nationwide. ReTrans' non-asset based business model affords the flexibility to provide these clients with access to transportation from more than 7,000 carriers across a range of modes (rail, truckload, and less-than-truckload) without the conflict of having to manage its own fleet capacity.

"We are extremely pleased with Tailwind's investment in ReTrans," said Jeff Calhoun, a partner at Tailwind. "The ReTrans management team has done an excellent job driving growth and creating a market leading third-party logistics provider. We want to thank the team for their dedication and wish them continued success in the next phase of growth."

Tailwind acquired ReTrans in 2012 in partnership with the management team. Under Tailwind's ownership, ReTrans executed a strategy to grow the business both organically and through add-on acquisitions, materially increasing its revenue and earnings. The company completed two add-on acquisitions which added scale and expanded its product offering.

Tailwind was represented by Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated and Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP.
